Check the ledger board that supports your deck to ensure it’s intact and a solid connection to your house. If it’s missing or defective, it could allow water to get in and damage the foundation of your home. Adding vinyl flashing over the ledger board will help keep water away from your home.
If the bottom of the posts that support your deck are rotting, it’s probably time to replace them. If you can’t find a post that will hold the deck securely, you may have to use a temporary post until you can install a post that will be strong enough.
